Based on some advice Mas Ayoob once gave about "carry what your local LEO's issue," I thought it'd be worth opening a discussion about what various agencies issue--I'll throw in commercial clones of Milspec rounds and Federal LE-issue as within scope too, but don't know where to start. Input from our Sworn & Badged members whether current or retired is especially appreciated. :)

I have some notes on Milspec commercial equivalents that I'll edit in after--corrections and additions are most welcome.

A local PD here issues Vmax to their .223/5.56 carrying patrol guys.....

That's what was in there when I did my ride along. :)

Or this.
Military Surplus .224 Diameter Bullets - 62 Grain FMJBT SS109;)
I'm reloading Freedom ammo (SHTF or GOV runamuk) I want what's gonna put em down for good. Yeah 308 would do it right quick but for the time being I am 308 less....

Good point, Jim, but we're talking Standard Issue ready-to-fire and commercial equivalents thereof--not all of us have space or budget for our own reloading benches. :)

[EDIT: Moment of confusion, forgot SS109 is M855 not M193]

@No_Regerts Any chance of getting a pro's voice here? :)

We are using 147gr Federal HST 9mm for duty, Federal American Eagle 147gr FMJ for practice.

Federal Tactical 00 Buck 12 GA (lower base than standard 00 buck)

Federal XM193 5.56x45.....BUT.....I have seen some specialty guys with Hornady TAP 55gr.

Federal 168gr Tactical Bonded in 308

I think our procurement people must own stock in ATK or something.
