The Wilson XL grip modules for the P365 are a nice and affordable improvement.I didn't care for the sleeved 12 round mag in a regular P365, it will leave a blood blister if you don't pay attention on a mag change.
I went with a 365XL grip instead with a Hogue grip sleeve several years ago.
All kinds of different stuff now for the 365 these days, another lego gun. All you need is the FCU and then build it any way you want.
I would like to get an Xmacro grip but I'm already invested in 12 round mags as it is.
And I have P229's if I want to carry that much ammo.
Another option for carry revolvers is the S&W 640. I have the -1, and even shooting 357 mag through it the stainless weight soaks up most of the recoil. With a decent belt and Mitch Rosen OWB leather holster it carries lightly too.
Agreed. I have the WC X-macro grip module. Better than factory. The Wilson XL grip modules for the P365 are a nice and affordable improvement.
Totally agree! I have an M&P Shield 9mm and typically use the larger magazine for exactly this reason. While a smaller, flush-fit magazine is better for concealed carry, the larger magazine is far easier to grip with bigger hands. One thing I would look for when shopping is pistols that use a mag that you can add those extensions too. Often those can make a HUGE difference to making a real small grip work better for large hands. Even if you can only get two fingers on the grip those nice little finger rest mag plates can make the shooting FAR easier without making carry and concealing harder.
Right on, thanks for the follow upI'm one of those that if a gun isn't right for me it goes on down the road. I've carried the Shield since they came out in 2012 or there abouts. To be honest this one is a gen 2 because of the better trigger. That being said It's my carry gun and I do shoot it quite often but it's not a range toy that I'll shoot all day. I'll run a mag or two thru it once a month or so but have other guns that are more fun to shoot. Nothing wrong with it and it shoots good and fairly accurate it's just small and not a target gun. I carry it as if my life might depend on it and for that it's just what I want.
I really like the 357 Sig cartridge. A 124gr bullet out of a 3" barrel @ 1400 FPS is quite impressive. I call the Shield my Master Blaster. A couple other guns that I have in the 357 Sig are a Glock 32 and a Sig P-229.
Yeesh!
Learn to love itThe 642 has a nasty recoil, you should try one out before buying one. Same goes for all of those mini pocket guns.
I would get something with a bigger grip. Arex zero compact Fe. Another one with pretty big grip is grand power q1. I shot that for the first time last week and it's incredibly accurate and low recoil due to the rotating barrel. I put some grip tape on mine cuz I like really wide grips when I can get them.Looking for suggestions for a sub-compact/Compact pistol for EDC. My HK VP40 is too large to comfortably carry concealed for any length of time, especially if I'll be sitting.
I was looking at both the HK CC9 and the HK VP9SK sub-compacts, but I'm worried they might be too small for my giant hands. Wheelgun, maybe? I won't be using lights or laser.
Thank you.
How do you like that S&W 40 Shield? My uncle has one that he swears by, but I've already got the HK and was thinking a 9mm or possibly .38/.357. Not opposed to another .40, just want cheaper ammo haha!
I only sold my Shield 40 because a friend was looking for a good gun. I wear a size large glove, but my fingers aren't "fat". I found the Shield to be a good fit in my hand. The longer mag gave me more to hang onto, but the short mag wasn't bad.Totally agree! I have an M&P Shield 9mm and typically use the larger magazine for exactly this reason. The recoil isn't all that bad, I've got CT boot grips on the 642 so that helps with the recoil impulse. Its not something you want to plan on shooting hundreds of rounds in a range session, but 50-100 rounds is manageable and not uncomfortable. The 642 has a nasty recoil, you should try one out before buying one. +1 on mag extensions for subcompacts. Even a slight increase in the length of the grip face makes a huge difference in comfort and recoil control. Had a Glock 42 for a while, added +2 extensions and it dramatically improved how that gun handled. Would definitely recommend hitting a range where you can rent some different ones. When you do, see if they have any mags with grip extensions so you can feel the difference between those and the stock flat baseplates. One thing I would look for when shopping is pistols that use a mag that you can add those extensions too. +2 Another endorsement for Mag. extension on Subcompact . This is where the G26 rules with using G19 15-rnd. Mags with grip adapter extension . Makes the Subcompact G26 full grip to fill the hand, and at same time makes it nice on the AIWB. You got best of both worlds.+1 on mag extensions for subcompacts. A wider grip also spreads the recoil energy over a wider area of your palm. Narrow grips can be punishing due to the concentration of the recoil force over a small area of your palm.My current carry is a G26 Gen 5, I have very large hands (can also palm a basketball) and the grip thickness and lack of finger grooves really fill the hand for a sub-compact pistol. Add in the OEM extended +2 mag and I can get 4 fingers on it while carrying comfortably AIWB. Just a recommendation, be cognizant of grip thickness and not just length as it will give you more surface area to wrap your fingers around for the size.
I have the X-grip for both a G19 and a G17 magazine. They work well for what they are - remember that there are models for both Gen 4 and Gen 5 magazines. I believe there are differences in the magazine floor plate - looking at your photo, perhaps that is the issue? Mine both fit snug and have no problems staying put. I remember when buying them I compared photos of the product and there was some design differences between the two generations.A wider grip also spreads the recoil energy over a wider area of your palm. Do you use an X-Grip extension on your extended Glock magazine? I have one for my Glock 27 but is doesn't fit nearly as well as the factory extension fillers on my Springfield XD's do.

I had to use some double sided tape to keep the X-Grip on my OEM Glock mag. The Springfield XD extension filler fits so tight that it stays on perfectly by itself.
