Gun violence remains at the forefront of the public policy debate when it comes to enacting new or strengthening existing gun legislation in the United States. Now a new study finds that the Massachusetts gun-control legislation passed in 2014 has had no effect on violent crime.

RE : Research on the Gun Violence issue

It's in the Democrat's Party Platform.

So I KNOW THAT any money (budgeted or spent) for research on that subject.....is just MORE wasteful spending.

The solution would/could be as simple as.......

So then, I'll take......

While the percentage of denied firearms licenses and firearms license applications had little to no effect on violent crimes, Iwama suggests state lawmakers revisit their legislation to ensure that it is being implemented as intended and address challenges identified. In particular, are these findings the result of a longer-than-expected lag in enforcement following passage of the legislation? Are they due to individuals obtaining firearms in nearby states with looser gun laws? Or is it possible that the 2014 law is being enforced differentially by county?
So, this "scientist" used the data and came to a conclusion: the laws don't work to reduce violent crime. (Any hypothesis is never mentioned.) Her response? The data doesn't show that the laws don't work; the laws are simply not being done hard enough!

"Man, slamming this guy's head into this brick wall isn't knocking it down. Perhaps I must use another guy's head and slam harder!"

Agenda driven academics are not real academics. bubblegum them.

If someone truly wanted to prevent crime or help keep people safe....
Then they would quit pushing for and passing new laws.
After all we already have many , many laws , and yet we still have crime.

Criminals by their very nature and actions , disobey laws...what makes someone think one more will make a difference...?

If you want the same results...do as you have been doing.
If you want different results you need to do something different.

This idea has been hammered down the anti's gunner's throats for some time now, they do not care. They are simply part of a cabal that wants to eliminate all private gun ownership here in the states (my guess is everywhere else as well).

In UK, back in the early 20's, bringing in new legislation to curb the rise of Bolshevism failed to stop the criminal use of firearms. Bolshevism never had a chance here in UK - just too many people are Bolshie enough without being told to do it.

In the 40's and 50's, bringing in new legislation to curb the rise of criminal use of firearms failed to stop the criminal use of firearms.

In the 60's, bringing in new legislation to curb the rise of criminal use of firearms failed to stop the criminal use of firearms.

In the 80's, after the Hungerford Massacre, bringing in new legislation took away ALL our semi-auto centre-fire rifles and carbine, and raised the category of certain kinds of shotgun to that of Section 1 [rifled] firearms failed to stop the criminal use of firearms.

In the 90's, after the Dunblane Massacre, bringing in new legislation took away ALL our cartridge-firing handguns in mainland Great Britain failed to stop the criminal use of firearms.

In 2010, the Violent Crimes Reduction Act, that made it illegal for somebody like me, a Firearms Certificate holder since 1968, to buy a gas or electrically-driven Airsoft gun without being a registered Air-Softer or re-enactor, failed to stop the criminal use of firearms.

See a pattern here?

You'd need to be blind not to.

But then, you are not a politician.

tac,

Thank you for the History lesson of gun controls in the UK.

Speaking of the "blind".....
There are plenty for those right here in the USA too.
And, many happen to be gun owners (well, for the present at least).

Then take Australia and their unarmed civil population, getting rubber bullets shot at them and carted off to “quarantine camps” for protesting against the Orwellian government COVID lock-down edicts…. Which has done NOTHING to keep the latest “omicron” variant from infecting their shores…..

It’s never about “public safety”, it’s about “never letting a good crisis go to waste”.

Just think of all the money that could be saved by just giving each American citizen child a .22 rifle at age ten (paid for by taxes) and mandatory firearm education through high school. Then a mandatory year of civic service of some kind in the community. Restricting firearm freedom will never change violence. Might as well have trained civilians who can protect against the violence of criminality.

In a free society, gun ownership shouldn't be forced any more than it should be restricted.
