You don't undergo a background check to get ammo - maybe someone's older brother had bought
They do in California and yes it'll be here soon enough.

Imo schools, Leo's etc are forced into "panic mode" right now due to the mass shootings. The red flag law is the way they exercise their panic.Drop drills used to be the scariest thing as far as indoctrination at schools. NJ locked down thousands of school kids that seemingly were safe (with so much law enforcement there). In thus school case it is the LEOs that look to be at fault. Uf there qas no danger fiund at the school and they felt they knew the kids that did it, what was the point of taking the parents guns? The community was no safer. No mention of arrest. The school itself caused more damage than needed.
Granted it was a dumb thing for a teenager to do but teenagers do dumb things. The education system should be aware of that.
the thing is the education system has become a political tool with a left wing agenda,
Please explain how this protects them from confiscation?Good reason to bury Firearms in a trust.
I own none.
In this day and age we are seeing, I wonder how many people think it could be a good idea to have someone you trust hold an item or two for them?
Gun confiscation during Katrina is a good example of what regulatory agencies may do when they act in panic mode. Every gun they could get disappeared, many never to return to their owners.
I didnt know anything about the Katrina confiscations until a year or so ago. It looks like refusal was not an option and they had no problem using extreme force if required.Gun confiscation during Katrina is a good example of what regulatory agencies may do when they act in panic mode. Every gun they could get disappeared, many never to return to their owners.
That is a lesson for what could happen in the future, whether under red flag laws or another incident That causes them to react in panic mode.
Legal mumbojumbo. Documents say "all firearms possessed by xyz..."Please explain how this protects them from confiscation?
They're going to use this incident and incidents like this to push for bgcs on ammunition. Like I said, ammunition purchases as of now in most "free" states are not recorded. Kid having ammo at school doesn't = parents left ammo sitting out in their house but that's the conclusion they jumped to of course. "Must have been those CRAAZY gun owning parents!" "Hopefully we can prevent loose ammo from showing up at schools again by forcing common sense ammo background checks!!"They do in California and yes it'll be here soon enough.
Exactly. What happens if one of my kid's friends shows up at school with 9mm ammo he obtained through unsecured means and gets caught showing it to my kid and maybe another friend? Come execute an ERPO on me? Oh look I happen to have a 9mm gun, clearly I don't deserve guns because my kid has a moron friend (doesn't every kid have at least one moron friend?) I know I've had a few over the years of my youth. Red Flag laws are all about reducing the number of people with guns in society overall - they don't care WHO or if it's people who really shouldn't have guns - it's just about removing them.Kids do dumb things...
A parent should teach their kid not to do dumb things....
As a Behavior Specialist in a school ....I teach kids not to do dumb things.
Yet kids will still do dumb things....
In today's world , bringing ammo to school is a very dumb thing.
Does it warrant a red flag and a search and seizure of a home and guns...?
Maybe...It all depends on the circumstances of the kid and his intent.
Events like these need to be looked at , in a case by case situation.
One of the many issues I have with Red Flag Laws is that it is a One size fits all solution...that really means one size fits none.
Andy
That's not legal in any West Coastal state...
You all need to get the facts before you take these people side.
I don't like the red flag laws.
But this is not the first time with this family.
Last month the kid got one of his dad's guns .
Loaded it and shot it inside his house .
Just because he wanted to shoot the gun.
Before that the other kid a girl was in trouble for posting online and telling other kids at school that she was going to kill them .
This family has a history of problems with the kids.
Im sure none of us have all the facts and Im not sure the fine details matter all that much to me. Rights appear to have been violated. From the news articalYou all need to get the facts before you take these people side.
