While not so much outdoor oriented (training is indoor in a shooting range) Don't forget the PSTC. Good classes at a reasonable price. Here is the web address: https://www.clackamas.us/sheriff/pstc.html

I've taken their Basic Handgun and it's 8 hours of training. Mostly in classroom but the range time is good too. You do learn how to handle the weapon and the final test is pretty intense as well.

Oh, and regarding Oregon Firearms Academy. They are going to have a training for defensive handgun at the Tri-County Gun Club in Newburg this summer. Check out their schedule and prerequisites for the class details.
