Had it for several years. Just used it and I don't remember it getting so hot before. I mean HOT!!!!! Like night comfortable to hold.
Is this normal?

Yes it is. I had one light up in my pocket once.

The LED bulbs put out more light without heating up.

Your xenon bulb will also cause physical pain when shined in someone's eyes. The LED will blind them, but it won't HURT.

I had a Surefire Aviator turn on in its case on my duty belt. Got so hot it melted the case and caught fire. It sucked.
