How about some show and tell. I'll start.
Referred to as a "Toe Biter"
I found this last summer near Mt Rainier, swimming in a pool of water.

Dem Toe Biter water bugs, if you want some excitement and have an indoor fish tank, (cover the top with screen first) toss one in your tank. Damn things will chase, and take on (kill) fish ten times their size. It will OWN the tank.

SO! . . . You want to see some strange NW insects! Be in Salem when the legislature is in session. These low-lifes make even dung beetles, bed bugs, and roaches seem appealing!

I haven't been here that long to see some of the weird ones, just a few banana slugs living up to their name.

I recall many summers in NV were the morman crickets took over and would cover the roads.

Ya, I thought I'd just grab and catch one of those as a kid,, brilliant!
The thing latched onto my paw and harpooned me with some sort of spear like thing that lit me up worse than a hornet, I couldn't get rid of him fast enough.
