dont leave them in anything that can hold moisure.. like plastic cases. they'll rust.

an open rack inside the safe, with a heat bar or silicone packs, would be ideal
 
i second the last post.keep them out in the open air.another thing i like to do if im storing something for a while. i'll put vasoline on the exposed metal parts.its just like cosmoline, yet it is easy to clean and will keep them from rusting for sure.
 
If you must put them in something, make it either a VCI-impregnated bag, so, a silicone-treated sleeve for that purpose.

I keep my handguns in the open on racks, but, my longarms are in sacks to prevent safe rash.
