Is this a single action 9? I think my girlfriends dad had this gun and I'm kind of curious about it.

Yes it is, the BM models are very similar to a commander size 1911 except that it does not have a grip safety. They dissemble the same way but the star models do have a slightly different design and it is not reccomended to dry fire them or the firing pin may break.

These guns are selling way below what they are worth. Star is from Spain, a company with long tradition of producing excellent firearms. I recently purchased the same gun from a coworker, it shoots better than guns that cost 4 times this price.
