Any history on the rifle and bayonet pairing that you'd care to share?

Sorry, I don't have any history on them. Probably my father in law purchased them at a gun show. I don't believe they were used in wartime by anyone in the family. I got them unofficially appraised at the gun show that meets once a month at the square dance/rodeo place on 503. I don't know anything about guns, but the men there were pretty impressed. I think the guns are in good condition.

Hard to say much about the A3 , other than it looks pretty nice.
If the bore is decent , you have a excellent price on your rifle and bayonet.

In regards to the bayonet it is a 1905 model for the 03 Springfield series of rifles.
It looks like a WWI vintage bayonet.
This not to say that it will not work for a A3 or not the "proper" bayonet for it.
The A3 will take any bayonet for the 03 rifles , in addition to the M1 series of bayonets.
There should be a date near the guard.

Good luck with your sale.
