Checked with my ffl first and they didn't have the gun so I went online and saw at sportsman's warehouse website in stock in Pdx but have to pick it up in 2 days. I order it pay for it and go in to store immediately so I don't have to go there on Black Friday. They say maybe it will be available in a month. Two other guys look around, I shiw them website and order email says in stock this location and must pick up by 26th.

Guy next to me order a diff gun and they say can't find his gun anywhere. Constant run around for both of us.

Now I have to wait for them to refund me for a gun that doesn't exist. Then finally after finding the right manager they say they cannot refund my $ until Friday. What bs. I'm gonna call the main website number and see if they can refund. Total waste of time.

I emailed them yesterday. Those tools at the gun counter are the absolute worst at customer service.
Yea, now I have to call them back 2 days later to fight for a refund of a gun they never had. Employee #1 gave me one story, then I showed him screenshots of my purchase and the email they sent, then he changes his story. Then employee #2 comes over and has a different story. Then after the third check with the manager employee #1 comes up with his third story, all of which conflict with the website and emails. I wouldn't have bothered if local ffl could find it but I figured BIF they are only ones that have it and price was good. Frustrating experience. And the guy next to me seemed to be in the same boat. "The Gun is 21 tango" they told him then other guy says "no it's 21 x-ray" or something like that. Lucky I had mask on or they would have seen me chuckling.

I have a love hate relationship with sportsman's! I hate when I have to visit one or give them my money lol I only go to them for magazines and slings and they are still overpriced but I understand convenience comes at a cost. When it comes to buying guns I've always had a bad experience with them which is unfortunately because sometimes they have some reasonable deals. Last time I bought a gun they got me with the 2 day pickup in-store. So on the third day I called sportsman they explained that it arrived but they were filling so many orders that they couldn't get me an estimated time I could pick it up even though they confirmed they had received my gun. About a week goes by no response or email telling me to pick it up. This time I call their HQ customer services explain the situation and their Rep calls the damn store within 1 hour my store calls me to tell me to come pick it up... After that experience I won't buy another gun from them. I also can't stand filling out a 4473 on a damn tablet! Call me old school but I hate filling out important forms like that on something that can make an error far more easily then I can on paper!

I have a couple of good friends who are quitting their jobs at Sportsmans. They are leaving their jobs because of the Cabelas/Bass pro shop purchase of Sportsmans. They refer to the new management model for Sportsmans as having a "bean counter mentality".

The only firearm I've ever bought there was a deal they had on the S&W M&P Sport 2. They had a promo on gift cards which you could purchase and use immediately, the rifle was on sale and there was a gift card offer on the rifle. It was a fantastic deal. Transaction went fine but I did have to return to pick up the rifle after my background check passed. That was the Hillsboro store.

It really sucks in retail these days. There are the people on the front lines that don't understand why the people at the back do what they do. There are the people at the back, and in charge that have never been at the front. Retail is short handed, or has employees that have no work ethic and/or are plain old lazy and believe the jobs are below their superior intelligence. EVERY ONE I talk to, that works for their money, is experiencing the same problems where they work. With these issues with so many retail businesses, I don't understand how McDonald's can still get you through the drive-up line as fast as they do and get the same food hot and fresh every time. It's mind boggling I tell ya'!

I may be looking at this the wrong way, but I always thought the "pick up in store by _ " date was because the firearm was at a different location and needed to be shipped into the store. I bought a Rem 700 Varmint rifle about 3 weeks ago from my local Sportsmans, ordered online and got the email about 3 days later that the rifle was ready to be picked up. I went into the store and it was relatively smooth to pick it up, but the people working the counter were not particularly knowledgeable or fast. I also can't stand the time it takes to purchase firearms from the big chains, where they need to have 5 different managers approve the paperwork and be escorted from one end of the store to the other to finalize the purchase.

Not trying to defend Sportsmans, just sharing my mostly positive experience.

NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM.

I ordered a gun cabinet because they did not have the one I wanted. A week later saw the correct one in stock.
They told me I could not take that one and had to wait for the one I ordered or go through a long wait for my refund while paying up front for the one on the floor.

It's stupid.

There's a guy in the Salem store who still owes me lunch. I bet him lunch that I'd get an instant background check and he said that "no one is getting instants, I haven't seen one in months". Anyways, I'm still hungry. That was my first firearm buying experience there and probably the last. Even with an instant approval, it took over an hour to complete. I was not a tire kicker either, I went there because they had a specific model in stock.

No it said "in stock" at that location. It said "buy now, pick up in store today".

I don't really like their new set up. Takes 20-30 minutes just to look at something. The old system got the tire kickers like me out of the way quickly so they could focus on the ones buying. Combined with the electronic 4473 that everyone is going to, buying a gun from them is about an hour long ordeal now. Just like Cabelas basically. So they are now the same. Which sucks, because Sportsmans was always much better than Cabelas.

I don't think I'll crucify them for messing up the absolute craziness of gun sales and tracking everything during these last two years though. I think like with most things going on, a little patience couldn't hurt.

Hope you get your purchase figured out.

Happy Thanksgiving.

You mean it could only get worse?
