Spent my "going away party" at the ER

So tomorrow is my last day at my work. Some of my employees chipped in for pizza. I was down for that. Ate a slice. Started to gag when swallowing after I finished it. Apparently I have a small piece stuck in my throat. 4 hours at the ER and I now have a laryngoscopy scheduled for 10:45 tomorrow. The ER couldn't remove it but it isn't large enough to be dangerous (so they say). Very strange sensation here, swallow and it makes my gag reflex kick in. Yes, I've got a bucket next to me.

In the mean time, I've downed a few raw eggs in hopes that they will grab onto it and take it with them (suggested by several medical sites and even my Dr. said she could see how that might work). Taste terrible. But I'm holding steady. There is a fairly good chance my saliva will dissolve it over night and I'll wake up good to go. If not, it's roto-rooter time.

A good chuck and puke is good for you. But ... NOT under the conditions you have endured. Maybe it is already gone and all you are experiences is the gag reflex which is good. Such reflexes tend to keep us alive. Sorry again for your puking and barfing.

I feel for you as to have your gag reflex go bonkers is no fun. I have had serious neck problems for the last 18 years(all kinds of arthritis)
and the gag reflex problem is absolutely no fun. Like gagging from anywhere from 1 to 10-12 times a day and some days(rarely)none. I had my teeth pulled and had full dentures made 10 years ago but unable to use them because every time I put them in I started gagging until I took them out. Tried everything the dentist's said and I still couldn't wear them. They finally came to the conclusion that I was one of those rare people that could not wear dentures after spending $8,000. My regular MD's and specialists still have no answers after over l8 years now., Believe me I feel for anyone who has a gag reflex problem and hope yours is only temporary.

Yeah, it's never happened to me before. Maybe I was in a hurry and swallowed too fast. I have a few friends that have had this happen, and they have all had scope extractions done. It is definitely a strange feeling, but I do know by feel that it is small enough that either I will hack it up or swallow it or it will get extracted without air flow blockage. Even still, my BP is high and I'm thirsty and hungry because I can't keep anything down.
