An issue I had last match - familiarity.

We are a friendly bunch, and like to keep things moving along.
But just because you are in the box, does not mean you are free to touch your weapon.

Wait until you are given the command to make ready.

By the end of the day ... I had a shooter come up, we changed score keepers and I was ensuring they were ready and we had the right shooter selected, and sure enough when I turned back the gun was in hand and loaded. I didn't see any of that.

The person with the timer is the safety officer / range officer at that time. Watch for safety issues: Muzzle, finger, mis-fire / squib etc.
The score keeper, and peanut gallery can, watches for hits.

Everyone, after the first couple of matches, should learn to use the tablet to keep score.

Safety / Range officers need a bit more experience - tho that can come from other sources - other shooting sports, military, trainers, NRA etc.

So I am not a member of TCGC. I got asked to see the RSO and was told I was trespassing and I needed to get a gate code or something to go to speed steel. For whatever reason I thought this was a public match. So how do I get on an email list to get the gate codes for the match's??

Snarlingdog...
Sorry that happened. Did you get to shoot?
It essentially is an open match, but held at a private club.
Whoever told you you were trespassing must not have been aware that non-members are welcome to shoot these matches.
If you'd like, I'm happy to "escort" you in next month so you don't encounter more hassle.
Again, hope you were able to participate.

Go to their web-site and on their calendar click on the event that you want to attend. It should give you the contact info for the match director: e-mail and sometimes phone # as well. The match director can then get you additional information.

Yes I did shoot. I had a paper under my windshield asking me to see the RSO. I told him I wasn't a member and i was there to shoot speed steel and he didn't seem to care and that I was in the wrong. I have been going since June and this is the first time I have ever been hustled about being there. I was like sorry I'm paying to shoot here dude but come on. I will get in contact with the match director for next month. Just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

That's wrong. You are welcome to shoot matches. You probably ought to have the gate code though and the match organizer should be able to give that to you. We'd all be glad to help next month if you'd like.
