Counter closure extended through April 8
March 24, 2020
The closure of South Sound 911's public counter and administrative headquarters is extended through April 8, 2020, in accordance with Gov. Jay Inslee's stay-at-home order. This closure impacts customers seeking fingerprinting services and those applying for a new/original concealed pistol license (CPL).
Emergency services including 911 and text-to-911 remain available 24×7, as are the non-emergency lines (253-798-4721 or 800-562-9800). Public records requests may be submitted online and CPL renewals are now being accepted by mail.
South Sound 911 encourages the public to check the agency's website or social media before visiting the counter or its headquarters in the event the closure period is extended. The closure was originally in effect March 13-31, 2020.
Operated by South Sound 911's Records department, the public counter is located at 945 Tacoma Ave. S. in Tacoma. The department routinely handles fingerprinting, concealed pistol licensing, background checks, and other services on behalf of law enforcement agencies in Pierce County.
The issuing authority shall not refuse to accept completed applications for concealed pistol licenses during regular business hours.
Just emailed Rebecca for confirmation...Mike Bowerman posted this on another forum
Firearm Dealers,
Effective at midnight on March 25, 2020, South Sound 911 is suspending the processing of new firearm transfer applications until April 8, 2020. This is consistent with Governor Inslee's order prohibiting non-essential business activities and will allow South Sound 911 to focus on its essential emergency response activities. Applications received after this date/time will not be approved and, therefore by default, be denied. Applications received prior to midnight will continue to be processed as time allows. We apologize for this suspension in service and look forward to assisting you once the Governor's order is lifted.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Hendricks, Assistant Director – Information Services

As I have long said laws mean only what someone wearing a black robe tells others they mean. I do hope not only this state, but other states like CA keep this up. It may be what is needed to finally wake up a LOT of gun loving, freedom loving people who have long refused to vote for their rights.A closure of the system is a denial of access to 2A rights. This should be illegal.
Chances are every Governor and such who is feeling their oats and tries this will find they poked a sleeping giant.
