You cannot ignor the fact that we're getting radical socialism out of the present government. And that it is a threat to your first and second amendment rights. You only have to look at the model for what's comming, Cuba, Venezuala, etc.

Sorry All. I took his speech with a grain of salt.

He expresses his knowledge of the issue as a historian? Does not history show that when religion gets involved, it generally turns into a type of crusade?

I believe in a higher power, but to involve those beliefs in law, war, confrontation or any relationship, you paint it with a prejudice.

I don't believe in any war waged on those grounds!

Left this, right that...my butt! :s0159:

Let's see:

He preaches personal accountability for individuals, but says nothing at all of the rampant irresponsibility in corporate America. The Housing Example: yes the government (including both Repubs and Dems) got rid of most of the regulations that governed prudent banking....they did this at the bidding (i.e. the campaign contributions) of the mortgage and banking industry.

This was a problem caused by the corporate minions who pull the levers on our government. Why doesn't Newt talk about this, at all?

He talks about not rewarding work. I agreed with him on this. But, then why is it the Republican Party that constantly pushes a reduction in the capital gains tax? (That is income earned from your investments). Such that now...income from work is taxed AT A HIGHER RATE than income earned from investments. How come he doesn't say anything about that? Warren Buffet actually said how he thought it was morally wrong that his secretary was paying a higher percentage of her income in taxes than he was!

Newt's nothing more than a shill for corporate America. The sooner we all wake up and realize that Washington DC isn't run by the Blues or the Reds...its run by the Green of the dollar bill...the better off we will all be.

We DO need to reclaim our heritage and our democracy, but the domination of our system of big money and big corporations is the biggest problem of all, IMHO.

I'm failing to see the merits of this thread and how it pertains to firearms...

9. The "Legal & Political" section is to pertain to firearms only. There shall be no legal & political discussion and/or material outside of the "Legal & Political" section.

There are many different people here with many different viewpoints on various issues. Like religion, discussing these issues here is highly likely to offend and very little good can come of it. We need to be focusing on the things that bring us together (firearms), not the things that have the potential to divide us (politics).

Thank you for appointing yourself moderator. :s0155:

I say when the video describes how Washington and his small band, with burlap on their feet in freezing winter, crossed the Delaware and made an armed attack, and then soon after he had 15,000 people join his effort of armed rebellion, that we are at least somewhat on topic.

I believe that's especially true when the video seemed to me to imply that this may need to happen again. ??

Maybe we saw the video differently.

However, if it's that important to you, maybe a mod will move it or delete it for you. It won't hurt my feelings any. :)

Corporations and other business provide the only true jobs and create the only true wealth we have. Lets not forget that government is a consumer of wealth, not a creator of wealth. It can spend only what it takes from someone who produced it.

As for bashing Christians, go for it. However if you count the votes, be aware that you need them to preserve your 2A rights. They are almost unanimously pro 2A and almost unanimously pro constitution and pro freedom. Yes, you can have some nits to pick, and some differences, but you need them if you're going to win any elections which preserve your freedoms. Also don't forget that they have an equal right to freedom of religion. We can't have it both ways.

The main thing wrong with the pro gun people is that they are split on so many other issues that they have a hard time coming together at the polls.

I'm starting to ignore labels and look for people who believe that the constitution is "everything" just as written.

So then, according to your logic, we should be able to discuss health care as well, because gunshot wounds would fall under that topic. Or how about bombing abortion clinics? Because a bomb is a weapon after all.

Get real. He spoke for less than two minutes out of almost ten about the American Revolution, and used that example to inspire people to replace their representatives in Congress, not start an armed revolution. This has NOTHING to do with firearms.

Yes Sir, Mr. Moderator. :s0155:

I completely understand that health care and abortion clinics are on equal footing with the Armed Revolution which freed this country. Comparing what George Washington did, and the Armed Rebellion which formed this country, and discussing whether it might need to happen again, is exactly the same as talking about crazies who bomb abortion clinics. Yes Sir.

My radar tells me you have such a hatred for religion that you are blinded to practical solutions to our problems - even unable to discuss them coherently.

Try "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
