Important for us as gun owners was the appointment of Jeff Barker (D-Aloha, 28th District) as the Chair of the Judiciary Committee. Judiciary is usually the committee that hears and amends bills regarding gun control and decides if the full House will vote on the bill.
Rep. Barker is a moderate Democrat, retired Police Officer and known for being generally against further gun control measures. He is also one of only two House Democrats that is a member of the Gun Owner's Caucus of the Democratic Party of Oregon. Here is an excerpt from a recent Oregonian article:

Merry Christmas!

Rep. Jeff Barker, D-Aloha, who has co-chaired the Judiciary Committee in the last two years, said he's willing to discuss legislative responses to the slayings.
But he said he doubts any further restrictions on any particular types of firearms will curb gun violence.
"Everybody owns these guns now," said Barker. "They're out there. What are you going to do?"
