Stopped in at Cabela's Near Everett today on way back from Oly. Shelves much fuller than last time. Lots of .223, much less 5.56. Some of the less well known rounds not there. Didn't see .22 but I didn't scour as in was in for X Tac 62gr and targets while wifey waited in the car. I'd call first.
Traffic really sucked so I didn't get to stop at Oly Tumwater Cabela's or Surplus Ammo & Arms in Tacoma. My commute is long because of the ferry but.... the older I get the less I can stomach the metro Sno,King,Pierce traffic nightmare.
YMMV,

Brutus Out

Traffic does get pretty bad near the casino exits up here.

I visit that Cabela's about once a week and their ammo stock gets a little better every time. It seems they mostly run out of pistol calibers in defensive loads often though. 9mm sells out pretty quick, 40. And .45 have a few HP loads to choose from with .45 being better stocked.

Their used gun prices are usually the same price as new even with missing accessories though which kinda sucks but hey whatever.

I was in Cabela's in Boise last weekend....TONS of ammo....I am not kidding when I say there must have been 15-20K rounds in 223 and at least 10K rounds of Herter's brass cased 115gr 9mm...8 rows wide...5 rows high (2000rds) x 5-6 deep....

Only thing I saw light was .380....only about 2K rounds on display. Everything else....40, .45, .38, 357, .357 Sig. EVERYTHING was stocked to the gills....

So that's where all the ammo is.

I have found the hardest ammo to find that pertains to me is .30 - .30. Cabelas, bi mart, Fisherman's marine, Corvallis gun shop, just to name a few. I'm just curious as to why? It is not a specialty round or uncommon. Is it not stocked because it is not a commonly used round in Oregon specific? I'm heading back to Minnesota for the White-tail deer opener in early November and love using my lever action .30 - .30 as a brush gun situation and wanted to shoot a few rounds for practice and scope sight in checking. Yet, family back home has told me they can find it anywhere there. Any suggestions? I did not mean to use your post OP as a new thread, just curious and thought it is still relative to your question.
