Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Looks like a Rem-sin or a Wes-sin, that is, a sporterized 1891 Mosin made by either Remington or Westinghouse. Had one from a friend of mine in my hands for a couple of weeks. IIRC, it had no markings in the receiver and barrel was dark (not chrome lined).
I agree it would be good to have pics of the receiver markings, also, of the sealing job done to the sling holes on the butt stock.
That looks like it could be a bannerman. They had the barrels set back then chambered in 30.06. If you can close a 30.06 round in the chamber I would not recommend shooting it. The rechamber was poorly done in these rifles.
