Uncle Milty, a local, Portland Garand guru, went through this rifle and thought it was very nice. He swapped out a few things, op rod spring, follower rod, extractor, and firing pin. The throat and muzzle both guage less than 2. The wood has a unique figure to it on the left side and there is a neat Danish sticker in the barrel channel. The sight is marked with an M so I believe it's in meters.

The serial number dates it May 1943.

    A very unique piece. SOLD

    Cool pics:

Do you happen to have a CMP certificate for this Garand? Also, what do you mean by saying the wood has a very unique figure on it? Are you referring to what looks like a stripe along the left side? Thanks............JKL

    Hi, thank you.

Yes. I meant that stripe on the left side. It almost looks like a line where the original tree was grafted but I've never seen one that long. There's also a string of the gold squiggles you can see in the picture of the sticker. They're along the bottom of the right side but they're not as pretty as the ones inside you can see in the picture. You can kinda see where they start in the picture of the barrel markings. I think they would be brighter if I cleaned the stock but I was kinda afraid to do that since this rifle looks like it's got some neat history behind it. Not that I know what that history is but sometimes, when I'm alone, I let it whisper to me. :paranoid:

I don't have a CMP certificate for it. I did not get it from them. I traded for it a few years ago and I just bought another interesting Garand so I'm going ahead and selling this one.

The VAR barrels are supposed to be very accurate and I would love to vouch for that but the truth is I didn't shoot this very much at all and when I did it was at rocks in a quarry. Please save this rifle from me and use it to show people what it's capable of.

Different trees? They're natural materials. There's going to be some mismatch.

I need cash but I'm not against a partial trade. PM me.

    Make me an offer.

It guages at less than 2 for both throat and muzzle.

They measure throat and muzzle wear. It kinda gives a rough guess as to how much a barrel's been shot. This barrel has a lot of life left in it.

    I got my .357.

Leupold. Nightforce. Vortex PST. Trijicon. Maybe even an M&P or a Glock. Tempt me. Let's deal.
