Stay Calm Neighbors... this may be what is needed for a "wake up" and get folks organized. There are a lot of folks who have the mindset "it doesn't affect me so...".

Please review the following link. http://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Documents/stateIR.pdf Study page 5 and 10 specifically.

There are a LOT of smart folks here that could likely defeat this on a "procedural" technicality.
This is a long term fight, do not give up the guns, literally and figuratively.

This is the primary issue with your argument. Two NRA "A" rated Republican governors in Florida and Vermont just signed gun control bills more restrictive than anything we have in Oregon.

And the only reason they did it was because the guy at the top of the party was on live TV promoting the same gun control laws they ended up passing in their states. Party leadership was supposed to stand firm to reassure everyone down to the state level, but they flip-flopped big time.

That doesnt refute my argument. Reguardless of the numbers. How can you refute disagree with trying to fight to stop something like this from happening? thats what just blows me away.

I don't disagree with wanting to take action, I just think placing your hope in the Republican party is foolish given what we've seen recently.

Republican Governor Rick Scott just signed into law 3-day waiting periods and an age increase to 21 to buy a rifle. He makes Kate Brown look like Rush Limbaugh.

The days of safely filling in your "gun rights" ballot by marking the box next to the Republican candidate are over.

It's been all democrats pushing gun controls in Oregon, ain't been a repub in office for a long time. Seems only logical to vote out the dems and hope for the best rather than leave them in and they take away our rights.

Allow me to speak for a larger point.

The second most important day in a man's life is when he finds out what his purpose is. The most important day is he decides what is worth dying for.

We each have to ask ourselves is this the hill we're willing to make a last stand on, regardless of the consequences. What is the right and moral thing to do?

This fight isn't just about our keeping position of material objects. It's about the inalienable right to life and the right to defend our lives and the lives of our loved ones. It's about ensuring that right is preserved for following generations.

As I've noted before, the last 120 years has seen 200 million deaths inflicted on humanity by governments. The ideologies that led the way to genocide are still every bit as strong; we have learned nothing. Let's not pretend it can't or won't happen again.

At this point I don't believe the majority of Oregonians will vote for this capricious nonsense. But, let's keep the pressure on and fight with everything at our disposal.

In the end, yes, a ban on defensive firearms is entirely possible, but there is a long way to go before then. Now is the time to do some serious soul searching; what is it each of us willing to risk. At what point will we say no, and give no further.

Our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor. That's what men once risked for liberty.

I see one of the biggest problems is that WE don't have a unified front. While the anti's have plenty of venues to stand behind that are organized and get media attention we've got nothin', not really anyway. Nothing that makes any waves. We as a group are too fragmented, the $$ isn't going to the right places. IMO we need a voice that's as loud as there's but less dramatic, more factual, more reasonable, more attractive. The tide needs to turn back in favor of the good people we are and not in favor of the reactionary, drama queens that are lying to the media.

Somebody asked about a trust. I don't know trust law in Ore. or Wash. But I was recently reading about transfer laws in Calif. Putting firearms in a trust was a loophole at one time in Calif., but the state legislature saw through that one and changed the law. Now, guns in trust ownership are subject to the same laws as those owned by individuals. "As it goes in California..."

Re. the talk about relocating to another state. There's an 800 pound gorilla in the room that nobody has mentioned. In Washington, that gorilla is taxation. Property taxes have gotten He-Yooge. Might be part of a package deal, take your guns and move to Wyoming (or your choice). This might be good if you are retired, don't care about where your children live, can get a job transfer to limited labor markets, or can work from home. Otherwise, the jobs are in the socialist population centers. For those who live in metro Portland or Seattle, get ready for less action. In Casper, Wyo., for example, if you want a hamburger after 9:00 o'clock at night, there are about two places to get one and one of those isn't very good.

My property taxes went down dramatically when I moved back to Washington from Oregon. $6000 per yer to a little over $4000 for the same value house and I actually get things of value for my taxes in Washington. In Oregon I just paid for a fat welfare mother slob . My income taxes .... well lets just say I will never live in Oregon again. $10K Plus more in pocket each year.

I am not trying to get around transfer laws, but if I have to register firearms, then I am hoping that having the registered owner be a trust would slow down the gov. seeking out owners (come confiscation time) while still complying with the letter of the law. I plan to have all of my property, including real estate in a trust - especially the real estate. I want some privacy in ownership.

I plan to have legal residency in S. Dakota when I retire, but still have land and buildings here in Orygun. I will spend more than 6 months out of the state and have a legal address in S. Dakota.

After 9 PM I am almost always in bed if not konked out in my recliner, I can't eat late at night anyway for medical reasons, and I can fix myself food at home - so I don't really care about the 'benefits' of 'civilization' - I just want privacy and to be left alone.

Perhaps not much longer............ :)

Oregon taxes it's residents to perform abortions on illegals. At some point they will increase their gun taxes because socialist have never found a tax they didnt' like. Worst part about Oregon is they drove the good production jobs out while increasing state jobs that produce nothing. That kills the tax base so the state dies.

If there is a better use for tax dollars I can't think of it.

I tend to believe its' better to send them home than kill their kids. It is important to understand the future of oregon in considering the options when the new laws go in. If they continue the sanctuary policies then you will need guns more than ever as the quality of life in oregon turns third world. They smuggle dope in so no doubt they will smuggle high cap guns in. The state will make you use 1880s guns against AKs, that's not a winner for our side. Add to that the crushing taxes comming our way and Oregon will be a failed state.

I like how California is turning on itself, Sacramento don't wanna be no sanct city.

It's a public health issue. I like that one too.

I was reading kali made it legal for all illegals to vote in state elections. Hopefully it was an April fools joke but I wouldn't put it past Kali to do that.o_O

It is completely legal for non citizens, even illegal aliens , to vote in state elections if it is allowed by state law. It was common for aliens to vote in state elections up until the beginning of WW1. You could vote right off the boat.

Federal elections are different.
