I have finally completely detail stripped my 1911. I have done this with Glocks (a one-armed monkey could do that), various wheel guns and shotguns, and a few Sigs. But for some reason I was intimidated by the 1911.
Followed a great tutorial online....and put it all back together - in 16 minutes start to finish on the first attempt. Passes ALL function and safety checks....I mean ALL of them.
Was a lot of fun! I will say the FIRST step must be pulling that safety THEN the mainspring housing....
