In paintball competition you can only have semi auto, but there are electric triggers that launch a ball when you pull the trigger in, and launch another ball when you let the trigger out.

right after I mag dumped it and some guy asked me if I was the guy going full semi-auto. I just didn't know what to say. So I said something to the effect of "nothing semi about it, this is a full auto machine gun."

But I could not believe somebody was saying that and not in jest.

For those of you bashing the guy at the range for being clueless, he was most likely referring to this event from an Army General "Expert" on the AR15, pushing gun control, from early last year. Yes, the General "gun expert" uses the term on CNN "full semi auto".
