I just think it's funny wearing camouflage pants is part of the alarming description of your encounter with a wouldbe terrorist, glad you made it out alive

Yeah I know. I almost ran for the hills because I saw some cheap military surplus 1980's Rambo era camouflage. Must be that I'm biased because when I go down by the armory and see real soldiers who have put their life on the line eating lunch I'm compelled want to buy them that lunch, shake their hand and express my gratitude.. But they are wanna be kids who are playing with airsoft toys in their parents basement wearing surplus camo.

Wise one.. That alone isn't the basis for everything. Next time I'll call 911 and report somebody who looks suspicious no matter where I am.

I saw some photos of bad people the other day. Apparently they all wear hoodies. So next time I see somebody wearing a hoodie I'll make sure to report them for suspicious behavior. That seems legit.

Wearing a hoodie is the criminals favorite trick, to avoid easy identification, especially when they have warrants.

We have a sign at the store I am at that clearly states no hoddies, no sunglasses and no back backs. When I see them come in the front door, and the check out or store staff does not do their job and ask them to lower the hood and remove the sun glasses, and leave their back pack at the counter, then I have to contact them. They get all butt hurt when asked to comply with our store policies, and if they do not they are escorted off the grounds.

Hmmm, or they're excellent things to wear in the PNW because of the weather. I wore a hoodie all day today and have 0 warrants.

I'm not suggesting that being alert or aware isn't critical, but the OP mentioned three things that have no prediction to dangerous behavior:

1) Camo
2) Arabic
3) Non-white

We need to be cautious about profiling because it does nobody any good, especially when it comes to protecting the 2A. How would this thread be viewed by an Arabic voter who happened to love the 2A and firearms? How would it be seen by anyone who isn't white?

High Alert!! High Alert!!

I'm KIDDING!:s0111:

National Terrorism Advisory System

The National Terrorism Advisory System, or NTAS, replaced the color-coded Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS) in April, 2011. ......

It recognizes that Americans all share responsibility for the nation's security, and should always be aware of the heightened risk of terrorist attack in the United States and what they should do...........

-------------------
In my mind, there is a LARGE difference between being aware of a "situation", and being a spy for the govt., ie; reporting your neighbors because they are stockpiling food, etc.......

A person has a green card and passes the background check may buy a gun.

I sold a car to a middle-eastern guy. He brought his family, friends.
From my North American point of view, they acted oddly.
Every one of them gave that car the 3rd degree.
Jabbering in their language.
I think they live as in a communal environment.
One of them finally bought the car.
A few months later, I was sued because the car in a wreck, was never transferred.

From that incident and others I experienced, I tend not to trust middle eastern ethnicities.
fyi.....when you sell a car to a private buyer you can contact dmv same day and fill out a form and your liability is over.

Maybe outside but the weather is fine in the store with no sun. So drop the top an glasses or be profiled.

Had a dude, woman and young man come in yesterday close to closing.( sunglasses /hoodie, he was asked to remove them, gave me some friction, I gave him the option to do that or leave. ) Older dude had a back pack, and was asked to leave it at the front counter. He refused and said he would stay in the front part of the store. The woman and young man did the $ 2 tour, we put one person on them and myself on the guy in front. They were walk ups, no car, plus I had seem them in another store earlier.

So yes, I profiled them. After a complete tour of the store 2 times, and 17 minutes, they decided we had nothing to buy, and they certainly were not going to be able to steal anything so they left. I saw them going into another store about an hour later and called the merchant to let him know to watch them.

They were also white/ caucasian people. I must have been racist in my observations.

You can only be racist if they are non-Caucasian.

I hate the be the guy that posts 4 times in a row, but as I was sitting here chewing a Tootsie Roll after a nice long socially menacing, non-tax-contributing bike ride... I really think the lack of the above is the reason you guys freak out so bad any time anyone challenges your cookie-cutter opinions on here. We're all on the same team- I'm a 100% pro-liberty, pro-gun, pro-God 2nd Amendment kind of guy, but because I think racism is a bad thing, ride a bike, and recognize the corporation as the single evilest thing to happen to capitalism, I'm a pinko commie bastard libtard seditionist traitor not worthy of your presence, and should definitely be banned, probably shot by firing squad.

And certainly "ignored."

It's you and me, Ben. I'm exactly where you are. I don't believe I have to accept the whole Conservative belief package in order to appreciate, advocate, and preserve freedom of all kinds. Long live the Bill of Rights, all of them.

How is profiling the same as racism?

I don't understand....

My heritage is Irish, Swedish, Cherokee, and a few others.

Racism:
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Profiling:
the recording and analysis of a person's psychological and behavioral characteristics, so as to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain sphere or to assist in identifying a particular subgroup of people.

That was well said! I would just like to add that much of profiling is in the culture of the observed. Skin color just points the way.

Walk into same shop Monday the 28th.

I'm standing there, this young 20's something kid walks in wearing some RealTree based sweatshirt. I start listening to him talk.

He starts talking about how he is a felon and as soon as his probation is over he is going to petition the court to have his rights reinstated. Then goes to say how he is wanting to get ideas for when that happens on what he can get for his girlfriend. He continues to babble on in a nervous way like he is trying to scheme and plan something he shouldn't. He was babbling about how when he gets done he will have HIS guns under the bed on HIS side and how he will blah blah blah....

I found it odd. Really odd. Once again his voice inflections and the way he was carrying himself just wasn't like everyone else in the store.

As I'm leaving the store I look down the sidewalk and I see him pacing while talking on the phone. Yet another really bizarre situation.

Like he went in there to look for what he wanted, then call his straw buyer so they could come buy it for him.

[sarcasm]
But I only profile people who don't speak English or speak another language so this guy was totally legit. [/sarcasm]

i don't give a rats what kind of hero you think you are because you think you bought someone lunch. You are a complete idiot , thoroughly complete.

"I get mad when I see someone in surplus camo because all the vets I buy lunch has to wear it for real"....well played, you hooked all the vets following your little holier than thou rant, got your shot in on me and a bit of sarcasm all rolled into one and classic defensive cover up of one who is unsure, insecure and trying to gracefully back pedal and save forum face.....your full of a big piece of fat juicy bubblegum.
From a long line of military here, your excuse to look down your nose at folks who don't fit your idea of a textbook gun shop patron are lame and weak like your scared little self.

Oh and by the way you did handle the parlous situation to the "T" as per your training.......you instantly tucked your tail and ran to the closest internet connection to let the entire world know how you saved it with your unequaled situational awareness,I thank you from the bottom of my heart !

Makes me want to buy lunch for every overweight slob I see in business casual poking at a smart phone.
And the next time I see someone playing internet commando sheep dog I'm going to say "Hey you don't deserve those Dockers poser!"
