I will admit S & W does make a a very nice 1911. I have had a chance to shoot an E series and I was pretty impressed. Fit, finish and accuracy were beyond my expectations and the owner and I experienced NO Problems with it as we were together when shooting it for the first time. This was impressive considering how tight (but smooth) all the moving parts were.
If I were in the market for a new, competitively priced SS 1911 with all the accessories I would probably go with a S & W.

I'm not a fan of the 1911, other than it does not have a magazine safety. (I remove mine)
That and it is not double action.

Yes and to be fair, I am pretty picky when it comes to 1911 aesthetics particularly. I found the Sig offerings, for the most part, to be hideous.

LOL I actually don't mind the two-toned controls but everything about the slide, external extractor etc..not my cup of tea.

I just wish that they would stop with the fish scale serrations.
