My father was just given a Smith and Wesson model #2 serial number 9xxx chambered in 32 rim fire and I have had a lot of luck before picking the brains of those smarter than I so I figured I would give it a shot.
From what I've found there is a good chance that based on the serial number this pistol could have been used in the war.
It is mechanically sound and has firm cylinder lock up and has minor pitting.
Any info you may have on this civil war era pistol such as mechanical info, rarity, or value would be greatly appreciated.
