Since most tactical shotguns have a fully open "Cylinder Bore" they are made to shoot slugs. (Sabbot slugs from my understanding require a rifled barrel, so that would be the exception.)

For personal defense I'm looking to pick up some Winchester PDX1. (Contains a 1oz. slug and 3 00 Buck shots in one shell!)

Federal Tactical® TruBall® Rifled Slug

for buck shots,

Federal Tactical® Buckshot FLITECONTROL

From my research, they are slightly better than other brands/types. Not because of word "tactical".

I'm with Skang: if accuracy is the goal, nothing beats Fed Tru-Ball slugs out of a cylinder bore.
At HD ranges, maybe you'd want to go with one of the radical-expanding designs.
