I just got a good deal on a Benelli SuperNova Tactical. Benelli Shotguns | Benelli SuperNova Tactical I am researching slugs and noticed that some manufacturers do not recommend their slug in some barrels or guns. Any recommends are appreciated.
Since most tactical shotguns have a fully open "Cylinder Bore" they are made to shoot slugs. (Sabbot slugs from my understanding require a rifled barrel, so that would be the exception.) For personal defense I'm looking to pick up some Winchester PDX1. (Contains a 1oz. slug and 3 00 Buck shots in one shell!)
Federal Tactical® TruBall® Rifled Slug for buck shots, Federal Tactical® Buckshot FLITECONTROL From my research, they are slightly better than other brands/types. Not because of word "tactical".
Nothing even compares to the DPX Barnes all copper slugs. They will open uo to 2 X caliber. Just imagine. Federal loads them
I'm with Skang: if accuracy is the goal, nothing beats Fed Tru-Ball slugs out of a cylinder bore. At HD ranges, maybe you'd want to go with one of the radical-expanding designs.
I would believe,at HD ranges, most slugs will do a great job on the soft human body. Killing game at longer ranges is a bit different. If you go to Box o Truth, you can see that slugs don't much care about walls,so shot placement would be a good thing. The Box O' Truth #14 - Rifles, Shotguns, and Walls - Page 1
