I've seen a lot of posts on many outlets about the coming doom of firearm legislation.

Get a grip people. If you're going to have a brain hemorrhage about everything the government and/or ATF is or might do…please don't read the rest of this post…you will be directed back to your regularly scheduled OMG the government is going take our rights, we're going to have to turn everything in or get it lost in a boating accident – thread.

If you decide to read on, insert some brass balls, I know it's a soft metal, but it's a start. I may lose some biz over this…but it's well past the sickening point.

Why are we worried so much about such things? We tend to get legally offensive on others about what they are doing…nit picking. People come to my trainings and ask…is it ok to bring a SBR, suppressor, full auto etc., what's the laws to cross a state line with such things? Then when they arrive ask if I want to see the paperwork.

I'm not the government or anywhere near the like. I'm a retired LE guy that doesn't have any free passes on such things. In the words of the movie character Monte Walsh, played by Tom Selleck…" You couldn't possibly know how little I care." All of us should look at that stance. United we stand, divided we fall…and we're falling fast…our group is getting smaller with such fear.

If you want to flame me...have at it, again...can't possibly know how little I care. I won't respond to sniveling finger pointing or degrading names etc., so please save it for the sake of others reading this post. Those that know me and have trained with me will better understand all this. Be well to all...

Lucas of T.Rex Arms has been putting out some posts that I think need to be out there for all to ponder. I don't care what you think of him...speeding up videos etc., bottom line…the man trains. 'nuff 'bout him.

Lucas' posts;

Some of you "pro 2A gun owners" are nothing more than compromising NRA sportsmen who are more concerned about abiding by unconstitutional regulations enforced by unconstitutional government agencies, than maintaining what little freedoms we have. You suck. You can't stand the thought of people out there with more gonads than yourself and living more free than you. If you get bent out of shape over a possible "illegal" SBR, there's no way you'll resist legitimate tyranny or evil as/when it grows. It's obvious you're an enemy of other people's freedoms. Again, you suck. That is all.

Throwback to carrying a gun in California without a permit. Lots of upset "pro 2A gun owners" in the comments because I was willing to "unlawfully" carry a pistol to protect two of my employees on a work trip. And no, a SOT doesn't give me special privileges to carry a pistol in California. Stop being upset at people who are willing to do more/take more risks than you in order to protect others. Maybe we've gotten to the point we're at with gun regulations and nonsense because we've policied our own more than the ATF has. Think about it.

I heard the laments when GCA68 was passed. It was "the end." The death of the second amendment has been greatly exaggerated. Oh, it is always threatened - there was concern in 1789, or it would not have been drafted and voted on.

As to today, John Stossel has been hammering on the fact that crime increases with each new restriction on good people. The fact that murder is already illegal and that no law applies to the lawless apparently slips right past the emotion-driven lawmakers.

Once we can separate culture from race, we stand a chance of making some true progress.

Reminds me of elk camp where several hunters were more concerned about the legalities of a rifle's weight than finding the animals

I know a family that CC'd since 1970. Not in outright defiance of the law so much as ignorance to the offense.

They took guns not in plain sight into the woods and transported them in cars and the guns were loaded and sometimes there was even more then 6 rounds in the whole car.

It never occurred to said family that those activities were 'illegal', because the family was not made up of crims.

Just sayin'.

The best enforcement of gun laws is, in fact, the internet via gun owners.

Second best enforcer of gun laws, gun owners in person.

Third best enforce of gun laws, gun owners friends.

4th, probably extended relatives of gun owners.

Law enforcement is likely somewhere in 9th or 10th place.

Gun sales are brisk though!!!

Kinda like the threads where people are already asking what we are all going to do with our evil "assault weapons" before a new law is even passed. It's like some are ready to give up and throw in the towel before the fight has even begun.

I am not a fan of Lucas but his quote is spot on as is his gear. A lot of people on this forum need to read it, read it again, maybe a third time for good measure. Get a backbone, open your eyes, and breathe people. You live in America. You have freedom.

It's called....

Stand for something or fall for everything.

Exactly OP.
Many GO's need to pull their heads out of the sand and live their lives like they want instead of being pushed into corners.

Fear is a political power play and those that buy into it should just turn them (Guns) in... And as long as there are people like these progressive socialist/communists in power, they will try to control the masses and many fall for it. DON'T!!!

Gun owners divide themselves. You have Tacticool Operators. You have Fudds. They generally don't like each other and disagree often.

Fudds are ok with AR's, Plastic-Fantastic newfangled pistols and anything related to be voted away. As long as their trusty .30-06 is safe. And their shotgun. Who really NEEDS 30 rounds? Nobody, because if you can't drop that whitetail in 1 or 2 you should sell your rifle and be a vegan pansy.

Tacticool Operators like to OC their AR's slung at low ready, to show everyone how badarse they are or something. They won't listen to others opinions on the message they send and can't run to the grocery store without body armor and a pile of loaded PMags....you know....just in case they need to save the day or at least brag about it to their buddies.

Both groups kinda suck. And both groups need to realize that the other is NOT their enemy, just a brother from another mother. Until that happens, we will continue to see the divide and in turn no real "message of unity" from gun owners.

Sadly, we see members of BOTH groups ready to turn in their legally obtained personal property at the first sign of "trouble".

FYI, I consider myself a bit of both because...well.....I like both.

It has been established that our rights come from God, not from man and especially not from government. What God freely bestows, man seeks always and every where to take away. It should be obvious that law prevents nothing - it only punishes the violation thereof. Any society, but particularly free societies, depend on individual self-restraint. The constitution, in addition to establishing a loose framework for the governance of a nation, is huge on freedom and huge on restricting government, which is the enemy of freedom. Ever notice that the constitution does not restrict the individual, but restricts government?

When was the tipping point?

EDIT: Typppos

Can I just say I hate both groups equally? I like the 2A. Don't really care why you want a firearm, how you use the firearm, or what firearm you choose. If we don't stand with the opposing group they won't be there to stand with you when the time comes. Cut out the cancer or we all will pay the price.

I would say the tipping point took place before the ink was even dry! As long as there are restrictions on power, there will always be a play to grab more power!

When feelings became more important than facts.

When it comes to firearms, there are only 4 rules I can think of that matter, in no particular order.
- Always treat every gun like its loaded.
- Never point a gun at anything you don't want to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.
- Always be aware of your target and what's behind/in front of/around it.

Follow those and you're good with me. The rest are really someone else's suggestions or opinions and it's up to you what you want to do with them.

Then again, life is what you make of it so you can ignore the 4 rules above, but be prepared for the consequences. Although that is true of all choices.
