I just open up to spam cans, 192 rounds each of AP 3006 ammo made in Saint Louis ammo plant in 1953 and was surprised to find it loaded with ball powder looking just like Ball C. 48.5 grains was the average weight +- 1/2 grain.

Does anyone know when we started loading ball powder is US military ammo. I thought it was in the late 50's not as early as1953.....

I don't think its BL-C(2)... WC852 was used for AP loading if memory served correctly & 4895 used for pretty much the standard M2 load. Check some of the Ammo Data Sheets.... something like TM 43-0001-##. Should list some of the info.

Btw, may want to hold onto that stuff. Collectors are always on the lookout for it. Grab some HXP from CMP, and enjoy.
