You don't "transfer" pistols in Oregon. You don't "transfer" anything when you buy a pistol from a gun shop... Background checks are not required in Oregon for private sales. ;)

I do a transfer when selling a firearm. It costs $10. It proves the buyer is not a "prohibited person" to me and that the firearm is not stolen to the buyer. I do not keep any of the buyers personal info. I only keep the transaction number assigned buy the Oregon State Police. I have done this every time on private sales and when I am selling guns at a gun show. You can get the transfer form from the State Police office in Salem. I know it is legal to sell a gun without doing this but it us a risk I won't take. I want to sell the guns I list for sale. I don't have to sell any.
