This knife I have actually used when the SHTF...
It is my Blackjack model 5 , that carried while in the Army and along on during four combat deployments.
( So I know it works...:D )

knives.jpg Here are my SHTF knives. In reality, I'd probably only grab one. Which one?

On the left is a custom slasher/skinner which I picked up at a show.
Next is my Damascus drop tip, bone handled hunter
Next is my Gerber Guardian II
And finally, my Damascus Kukri

If I could only take one, which one should it be?

Lets see if we are thinking alike :)

Before I would have said my Tops 9" Anaconda: - can't seem to find a pic

But now I'm in love with my Esee 6":

I'd take an axe so I don't really need a chopper. If I did it would be this Kukuri from Nepal:

And my always woods neck knife, my Rat3:

Harder more brittle metal?

Not exactly a knife, but I like it better than a machete

Woodman's Pal by Pro Tool Industries

View attachment 159699

Love my woodsman's pal!
Can be used for a lot of things!
There was a bad wind storm the day before my elk hunt that blew down a lot of trees. My dad has this spot he wanted to get to but the trees along the way blocked us. I asked him if he brought a hatchet or a saw and he said no and he was pissed thinking we would have to turn around. I said let me get my bag and i brought it out. at first he was skeptical since it wasn't really a hatchet and these trees were huge.
Took us a bit but we were able to cut them all down and get to this spot.
I said well i was surprised at what the woodsman's pal had accomplished.
He turned and looked at me and said yeah because its a f****** survival tool.
He rarely swears so i broke out laughing.

Saved the day :). And we ended up getting a nice white tail.

Oh I also use it to clear black berry bushes around ghost towns when my son and i go ghost town hunting.

Very very versatile tool.

Probably not the first choice, but not a bad one. Yeah it's a user not a display piece.
The last job was cutting attic insulation. Worked great!
First choice is a Estwing axe. Thanks for looking.

My brother used to work at Gerber and I had a nice collection at one time. Most of the blades were just too big and never got any use. I sold off the BMF, LMF, Tac II, and a few others. Kept a few Gators and have a few fixed blade Schrade Old Timers as well.

No chopping firewood or slashing brush, but all else should be covered ;)
