Got this Mexican Bowie for Christmas. (from me) All I've been able to find is it's from about late 1950's or early 60's. Didn't come with a sheath. That's an ebay special. bowie 1.jpg bowie 2.JPG

Someone sent me this drawing and asked if I could make it a reality. I tried to stay true to his design, but I had to add some more width to the handle to make it feel right to me. View attachment 810522View attachment 810524

Well, this is going to torture me
When I went to Africa, long ago, there was a Safari Magazine at the lodge and on the cover was a splendid, 10 inch Bowie knife and now I'm going to go nuts trying to find a photo of it. And if I ever do I'm sending you a copy and an order. I like the look of your work!:s0155:

Thank you :s0090:
This one belongs to me, but I'd happily make another. I set out to make my ideal outdoors/woods knife with this model. It's a good size while being light and efficient. The handle provides plenty of traction and fits the hand like a glove.

Another fine example from you...
Here's the one I picked up from you a few months back. Same criteria as those you listed...and you nailed it!
I love this knife...might need to consider another.

This isn't all my knives but all the Kershaws. I've become a Kershaw snob, they have good value and I only buy the Made in USA models. They are in line of purchase over the years.

No pictures because it's not made yet.

@Meridian7750's knife got me thinking about a nice antler burr that I sent to Chris a while back. He mentioned that he might make a D Guard bowie with it someday.

Well, that got me to thinking that a D Guard bowie might be a nice knife to have.
Oh yeah, my mind went there immediately. But I shortly put it out of mind because of other concerns.

However by a fortunate confluence of events and last nights conversation, Chris is going to use that burr to make a bowie for me.
Now I just have to wait.

Knives with personal attachment: Top to bottom: Technicraft 710, made in Japan - my first knife given to me by a father figure around 1978?

Schrade LB7, made in USA - given to me by my uncle for help moving.

Kershaw 2000, made in Japan - first knife I bought at Pay and Save in Mililani Town, HI back in 1979. Lost a small Buck folder given to me by same father figure and felt real guilty so I bought this hoping he wouldn't notice.

Nothing special, but this is my daily carry for the last few months. I have an assortment of "tactical" knives that would be perfect for ventilating commies, but they weren't being used to their potential. Got it on sale for $60.
