What is a re-bright?

Oh, ok, May. You had my heart going there. There HAVE been a few little birdy reports of winters being in though..

A re-bright is the same as a kelt. Downriver, spawned out fish trying to make it back to the ocean for another try. They're called re-brights b/c after they spawn, they lose their trout colors and start to get silvery again, though not dime-bright like when they enter the rivers.

Kelts are typically very long and skinny looking. The vents on the females look red and distended. And of course, their bellies are empty, no milt or eggs. They typically start feeding pretty seriously, so they're fun to catch.

Personally, I really admire kelts. I always hope they make it back again.
