When not fueling up or using that fuel on a hike, I'll bike, ride on my EUC (E Unicycle), or dualsport. The trip out dicking around in some rocky ORV area had me riding home with no clutch cable control. I had to be real careful about slowly coming up to stoplights, taking makeshift roundabout right turns round a block, or having to get a running start a few times and drop it into gear and hop on before it stalled. Fun times 😅

I remember the days when I'd dream about a PVS-14. It was a pain researching about night vision but after a few weeks I had a clue. I thought I was slick and gonna be able to get away with spending $1500 on one hahahaha I was wrong.

Don't get into this stuff unless you wanna be poor for a while. But it's a very nice piece of gear. Gives you great capabilities and it's always nice to have options.

My two favorite hobbies go hand-in-hand. A day in the woods (shooting or not) is a good day.
P.S. I am always looking for buddies to do some mid-level wheeling with (even if you drive a Toyota).

Toyota huh?
What about Nissan? We cool too?

I mean, it'll give you guys some great recovery stories!
Nissan guys and gals are cool (just less common)! My experience with Nissan guys is they go hard, Toyota guys worry about getting trail pinstripes and damaging their widdle wadder.

That's so true. The "good" thing about Nissan trucks is that the resale value is so poor, I don't feel bad about dragging it across a boulder, trail stripes or something breaking. Most Toyota guys love their (very nice) trucks too much to damage them in any way. However, I have seen a few newer Tacoma owners immediately invalidate their new car warranty by heading straight to an off-road shop and getting a solid front axle swap. Much respect!

Don't forget the Land cruiser guys, it's ether a pavement princess, or SERIOUS off-roader ( in their minds). They are a pretty diehard group, and take themselves far to seriously, and believe their brand is far superior to everything else, meanwhile, us Jeep guys quietly continue to dominate the off-road world one boulder at time!
Wanna start a fight, claim a Land Rover is better then a Land Cruiser, or vise-versa, and stand back! Having owned one of each, both a Series 60 Toyota and a Discovery series II, I can say the Disco was far Superior, But neither could match any of the Jeeps I have owned, even my 72 Waggy flat out out performed them both, and a Scout II was next level hard core, almost as good as a first gen Bronco!

I do go off-roading with my Jeep buddies, but they are mild core. The most impressive Jeep guys are the ones that bring along a welder and scrap metal because they enjoy breaking things and fixing them on a gnarly trail.

Jeeps aren't perfect for daily commuter, but no doubt they rule the trails. I'd like to get a 2 door Jeep as an off-road toy someday.

I just scored an Old School CJ-7 for a too good to pass deal, and even all stock, this thing is amazing, and would be nearly unstoppable with just a pair of lockers and a good winch! Though with the 401, will also need awesome axles!

Freeze drying. Since it is apple cider season at my favorite little farmers market, I freeze dry their apple cider and reconstitute it in alcohol, the 2 newest ones I have done are Spiced Rum and a Whiskey..
