New shoulder ball and socket fitting yesterday morning. They did a nerve block that may have lasted a day or two, but only lasted a few hours. It hurts like bubblegum and I was awake all night. I have taken OxyContin and some morphine. This helped a bit but it's still painful. I'm hoping to spend another night here so I don't have to deal with it over the phone if I don't get a bit more relief. They drew blood to see if I was bleeding internally and I haven't heard anything so I suspect it is not. I hope none of you have to go through this. 8:30 and someone else must be eating my breakfast.

Here's to hoping you don't experience complex regional pain syndrome, crps.
Edit to add I think @sobo has/ had it and I had it following a clavicle titanium bar implant surgery deal that affected my upper right side to include the hand.
Nightmare.

@joken prayers and blessings for that pain to to subside rapidly, or at the very least be controlled with minimal narcotics. We will keep you in our prayers for a quick and uncomplicated recovery.

Everyday will be better than the day before…

they kept you in the hospital?? I was in and out the same day, the pain was tolerable, certainly un comfortable but manageable. hope things get better.

My first shoulder surgery was to repair several tendons and clean out a torn Rotator cuff. That was painful for a long time. about a 3 year heal.
The next was about 10 years later I had separated the bicep, a couple of tendons, and again torn the rotator cuff. That took three surgerys to fix, but was a mostly pain free recovery, and was fully healed in less than a year.
I don't know what the difference between the repairs was but the second gave me pain relief from night one and has been mostly pain free since.
The last was done in 2018, I still have some looseness in the joint [ I can hear and feel the ball clunking around in the socket] But its mostly pain free, and fully functional. Good luck with yours! DR

I have pneumatic compression socks on too. Home in the morning

Here's to a speedy recovery @joken! Also, you have an uncanny resemblance to a Mr Walter White from Breaking Bad!
We have a family friend who had both shoulders rebuilt at the same time, insurance does this to save $$$ on a single vs two surgeries. Let's just say he found out who really loved him every time he had to go potty, LOL.

Hope you heal up soon!
My wife had knee replacement almost 3 years ago. She has disc degeneration in the area where they wanted to inject the nerve block, so she didn't get it. It was a rough first few days for her, too. The good news is that she's pain free now.

Ive been in bed most of the week. I made myself move to the living room this morning. Im pretty comfortable except my elbow starts to hurt like heck when bent 90 degrees in the sling. i awoke this morning to find that I had removed my sling during the night. I am doing my best not to put any stress on the tendon that was detached from the bone. it needs to heal.

Day ten and Dr Stanley at the Corvallis Clinic said my shoulder is doing great. I don't have to wear the sling unless I think it's necessary. I have been sleeping without it and am generally pain free. I just need to not put much weight in the shoulder pushing or pulling with that arm. I can extend it to the right and upward too gently. It will be 12 weeks before the tendon has reattached properly. I am extremely happy with the results. This has gone much better than I expected .

No physical therapy of any kind? Real glad to hear you are pain free for the most part.

Best wishes for a quick recovery.

This is the main function of a "pain blocker." That is, to make you feel well enough to leave the hospital. And back into other hands for recovery care. They want people out of the hospital ASAP.
