Not knowing enough about the situation and the immediate surrounding area , bystanders etc ... I can't say for sure if a gun would have been of use.

All in all a lousy thing to have happened and I hope that the dad recovers soon.

That's not the best part of town but "5 dudes" sure doesn't give EPD or anyone else much to go on. At the same time EPD just may know who the Bad Guys are but still can't do anything. Haven't been up that way in a while but EPD used to be a little better than average.
