Shotgun screws won't budge.

Disassembling a Gaspar Arizaga 12ga SxS. The top lever screw won't budge and there appears to be some type of metal blocking the screw on the side internal hammer plate. Is this typical of this make or am I doing something wrong? Older shotgun around 120XXX Serial #. Thanks in advance.

is it staked? may need to bust the stake.

You need hollow ground screw drivers when you work on firearms, not tapered like most screwdrivers.

It's really hard to see if there was a slot. It looks like you took a chisel to it.
One question, why are you trying to disassemble this gun?

There really isn't a slot. It is as if a screw driver had been broken of in the slot slightly above the surface. The shotgun is a old Gaspar Arizaga that needs to be restored.

It very well could be a left hand thread. Or a thread that is stripped out and just won't come up out of the hole.
That's buggered up alright, but still fixable!
