Short Argument for and Against Gun Rights.
Facts are that the main argument for gun rights and or against is focused solely on the 2nd Amendment. For gun rights says it grants rights. Against says it doesn't, so for arguments sake lets not use those as the go too, and see if the argument for or against stands or fails without a Constitutional right.

Below are verified facts, sources are ATF, FBI, blind research studies, census, NIBRS.

Facts For Gun Rights
  1. Average response time by police is 12min according to research.
  2. Crime involving legal ownership against legal ownership is low.
  3. People have the right to defend themselves from deadly threat.
  4. Firearms are just a tool to be used when needed.
  5. Countries with high firearms ownership have less crime.
  6. Countries with bans have higher person on person crime.
  7. Less then .05% of the population even uses a firearm for defense.
  8. Not having a firearms and needing one.
  9. Used for things other then defense.

Facts Against Gun Rights
  1. Less then .05% of the population even uses a firearm for defense.
  2. The average owner has no firearms experience.
  3. Its fairly easy to easy to purchase a firearm legally.
  4. Deaths at public schools often include a firearms.
  5. Firearms accidents per inexperienced ownership is high ( accidental shooting, discharge injuries).
  6. There is no required mental health screening for purchases.
  7. Private sales are still common in the majority of USA.
  8. The average owner is 44 and white 55%, minorities 25% Women 25%
  9. Banned countries have less firearm crimes.

Obviously there is a much longer list, but according to most pro and anti websites this is the majority of arguments not involving politics or Constitution. Stats state that per the population there are more gun crimes here in the USA then anywhere else other then Yemen. Stats also state that the USA is one of the highest populated countries, so being there are more firearm related crimes that is because of more people, when compared to other countries the deaths by a firearm are actually less here then elsewhere. When based on population stats. The lowest crime country in the world also is the most heavily armed requiring the citizens to be armed. In fact according to the FBI deaths by firearms is fairly low on the list in Homicide it barely in the top 5. While there are an estimates 88 out of 100 people that own firearm in this country and that varies from location to location. Less then one half of 1% of the population will ever use a firearm in defense. Why estimated 4.7% of the population has used a firearm in a crime from theft to homicide and why more middle age white men own a firearm, crimes are committed 4-1 over whites by minorities even though they own less then 25% of the firearms in the USA. There is no current mandatory mental evaluation system other then self reporting even though a huge majority of homicides that do include a firearm also have a record of cognitive deficiency and or mental illness. Accidental shootings are nearly 80% New or inexperienced ownership according to a blind study.

Studies and state have varied from year to year since the 1960's the last 50 years has been a roller coaster of violent crime up and violent crime down. However lower crimes rates did not seem correlate with new gun bans, or less, even after the Assault weapons ban crime was pretty much the same and seems to be more effected by economics and low employment then how many own what kinda of guns.
