Shooting near the Dalles Oregon

I think there is a shooting area like a gravel pit on the west end of town, not sure of directions to get there but you can see it heading east on I-84 right before you get to town. Or farther west of town is the Herman Creek area. Of course this all might be condos now as my recollections are over 20 years old.
