Story in The Columbian today on page A7 about a shooting in a cathedral in Russia killing two.
Trying to find it on the Internet but haven't come up with it it but it came from the LA Times so maybe there?
He was employed as an armed security guard at the cathedral. One of the people killed was a nun and the other was a parishioner. Both of them tried to stop the gunman as he fired at random at the icons and worshipers.

Amazing that we even heard about it stateside!

Found it at the LA Times site: http://www.latimes.com/world/worldn...ooting-20140209,0,3357334.story#axzz2szCeA4GV

There you go, from Russia with love :
    Google Translate

The guy wasn't employed at the church, but he indeed worked for a private security company. Weapon used was a shotgun.
