Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Hi all, I'm taking the family down to the Lakeview area to camp and do some rock hounding. Was looking to get some plinking in as well. Are there any open-to-the-public areas or rock pits that you know of?
Huge area with lots and lots of open BLM...whereabouts will you be?
There is a gravel pit on Hogback about halfway between 395 and Plush, but you may find people camping/riding ATVs there. Also a DOT pit just north of Christmas Valley road...if you go all the way to the back and up, there is a good spot to plink.
And I would think that anywhere on that map that is BLM, or any public land, you could find a safe place with a good backstop and do some plinking. You should check the county website as there may be a target shooting ban in effect because of fire danger.
