Nevada homeowner defends home after shooting invader twice in the chest, Nye County Sheriff says

1671399736128.png A Nevada homeowner shot and seriously wounded a home invader who was also wanted for violating his parole, officials said.

Authorities said Shawn Richard, 48, was flown to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas in serious condition Thursday night after he broke into a home in the town of Pahrump and was shot twice in the chest by its homeowner.

Richard had entered the home and made a sound in the kitchen, alerting the homeowner, who swiftly took action, the Nye County Sheriff's Office said.

The homeowner, armed with a handgun, shot Richard twice as he attempted to enter one of the bedrooms, the NCSO office added.

If they had measure 114 the felon would not have had a shotgun lol. I was just kidding regardless of measure 114 or background checks the felon is going to do felonious things it is in their nature !

The felon brought a shotgun that he stole from another house, so in Oregon the victim of that robbery would be charged with a violation of the Safe Storage law.

The report says he was critically injured. If he survives, he'll still have the ability to operate a firearm or mobility to home invade another residence. With DA's releasing felons, too bad there's isn't a law to somehow permanently disable these dangerous individuals like taking a hand when they stole but not as harsh. Perhaps, a finger for every crime they commit...

But without fingers, how will they point the blame?

One of my friends lost his right index finger to a firework in high school. He was a prison guard and the top handgun shot where he worked by using the point method. He said that he just pointed his missing finger where he wanted to shoot and pulled the trigger with his middle finger. The bullet went where he wanted every time.

Sadly he died earlier this year due a Pericarditis (enlargement of the heart lining) induced heart attack. Gov Inslee made every State worker take the COVID Vaxx, which is what killed him. A few months later, his wife who also got the shots, died from blood clots in the lungs.

Sorry for the loss of one of your friends .

I think the bigger issue is that if he survives, he's going to sue the shooter for some bubblegum nonsense.

From https://www.shouselaw.com/nv/blog/criminal-defense/is-nevada-a-stand-your-ground-state/

it states Nevada is a stand your ground law state:
  1. you did not start the fight,
  2. you have a reasonable belief that your life is in immediate jeopardy,
  3. you have a right to be in the location where deadly force is used, and
  4. you are not otherwise breaking the law at the time deadly force is used
1. The homeowner didn't start the fight, perpetrator broke into his property.
2. Perpetrator was armed
3. The homeowners property
4. The homeowner was at home

So, the perpetrator has a very slim chance of winning. But the cost of hiring a lawyer could financially bankrupt the homeowner. While the perpetrator still gets free healthcare, housing, meals, etc.

edit: unless the perpetrator carried a hammer then everything is out the window.
