SOME of the ANG fled, but im also 100% positive most happily embraced the taliban...
No doubt that many probably did. Some, the true believers, are still fighting. They will, of course, be overrun as the Talib sees fit.

Afghanistan is a country of mercenaries. The ANP are especially vulnerable to forcible conscription because they are recruited locally... the local Talib can easily use threats of, and actual, torture/murder against their families to get them on board..
ANA soldiers often only endured our intervention ("assistance") for the bennies, but were for sale if/when a more attractive deal came along or they were otherwise coerced forcefully enough (blue on green attacks).
The bad guys join whichever group looks to be on top. Hired guns. Enforcers. Man-dress Mafia.

Next Topic;

The straw man in this whole debacle is the false equivalency of "withdraw sloppily" or spend another 20 yrs and multiple $Trillions there. Nobody, NOBODY, is arguing that point.

The withdrawal was handled poorly. I don't think that's arguable. Unraveling 20 years of military/industrial complex lies and malfeasance, misappropriation, and corruption is going to take years (decades) of committed investigation... many of the key players and shot-callers will have to be indicted post-mortem. That's where having an actual curious and investigative media would serve us best. Unfortunately, we don't have that anymore and our country suffers for it.
