Shipping a rifle

I will be getting ready to ship my AR to Bushmaster for them to look at an issue I am having. They told me that when they would ship it back to me it doesn't have to go through an FFL. Is this true? Is this due to it already being owned by me or are they mistaken? Also what's the best way to pack it in order to prevent damage?

yes, to and fro to a manufacturer for repair has no need for the FFL. went through this a time or two with Century, so you're all good.

Good to hear, also I don't know what shipping company they are going to use, but am I under any obligation to disclose it being a firearm?
