Does anyone here know if there are any restrictions for a private party shipping a firearm from WA to an FFL in another state?

    Depends on the state.
Which state are you inquiring about?

It has to be legal in that state,I think
But most PO won't do it and most private ups or fed ex stations won't.Some areas you have to go to the UPS/Fedex hubs

    2. May I lawfully transfer a firearm to a friend who resides in a different State?
Under Federal law, an unlicensed individual is prohibited from transferring a firearm to an individual
who does not reside in the State where the transferee reside
    s. Generally, for a person to lawfully
transfer a firearm to an unlicensed person who resides out of State, the firearm must be shipped to a
Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) within the recipient’s State of residence. He or she may then
    receive the firearm f
rom the FFL upon completion of an ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background
check. More information can be obtained on the ATF website at
    www.atf.gov
    and

. The GCA provides an exception from this
    prohibition
for temporary loans or rentals of firearms for lawful sporting purposes. Thus, for
example, a friend visiting you may borrow a firearm from you to go hunting. Another exception is
provided for transfers of firearms to nonresidents to carry out a lawful be
    quest or acquisition by
intestate succession. This exception would authorize the transfer of a firearm to a nonresident who
inherits a firearm under the will of a decedent. See 18 U.S.C. 922(a)(5]

    6. May I lawfully ship a firearm to myself in a different State?
Any person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in the care of another person in the State where
he or she intends to hunt or engage in any othe
r lawful activity. The package should be addressed to
the owner “in the care of” the out
    -
    of
    -
State resident. Upon reaching its destination, persons other than
the owner must not open the package or take possession of the firearm.

    7. May I lawfully ship a f
    irearm directly to an out
    -
    of
    -
State licensee, or must I have a licensee in
my State ship it to him? May the licensee return the firearm to me, even if the shipment is across
    State lines?
Any person may ship firearms directly to a licensee in any State, wi
    th no requirement for another
licensee to ship the firearm. However, handguns are not mailable through the United States Postal
Service and must be shipped via common or contract carrier.(18 U.S.C. §§ 1715). Firearms shipped
to FFLs for repair or any other
lawful purpose may be returned to the person from whom received
without transferring the firearm through an FFL in the recipient’s State of residence. FFLs may also
return a replacement firearm of the same kind and type to the person from whom received. 1
    8 U.S.C.
    § 922(a)(2)(A).

I always ask the out of state buyer to send me a color copy of his drivers license along with their payment to me.
That way, I have proof of who I'm dealing with, and I then include a copy of my drivers license inserted into the package that is being shipped to the FFL that is receiving the firearm.
UPS will only ship handguns via next day air. Very expensive if any distance across the states
Long guns can be shipped ground. Also, any ammo must be shipped in another package.

You can box it up and take it to the post office for mailing. I recommend insurance and tracking. It does not have to be overnight or anything special.

For shipping, refer to the available common carrier's policies in regards to shipping firearms from an unlicensed person to a licensed entity.

Edit: I assumed you were talking about long-guns. If you are talking about a pistol, overnight UPS is your only choice.

You will also need an up to date copy of the FFL's license to show the carrier if they ask for it, plus it's a good idea to have one for your records anyway.

And be prepared for them to look at you like you're crazy. My local post office thought it wasn't legal to mail a rifle.

    Thanks, all.

I do believe you can ship handguns FedEx, I've done it a couple times.. In this case, I am talking about a C&R long gun.

Gun shops ship and receive hand guns every day thru USPS

Oh and that overnight BS? We have tracked pistols that were sent to about 5 different places before ending up at the shop.
