Couldn't find anyone. Bought an electric sharpener.

Buy a sharpening puck for $10. I carried a dual grit puck all the time when working in the woods. I prefer a dual grit puck with about 240/400 for getting a razor sharp edge. Most folks use coarser 140/240 products, but that 140 grit is mostly for dough heads that can't keep their tools out of the dirt. The rare time I need to get rid of a nick, a bastard file or lawn mower stone is much better, faster, and cleaner.

Can you do a long taper on a kelly registered axe?

I can , most users put a double bevel edge on them.
