Most of you won't care about this, but for those of us who share our posts, threads, and (especially!) classifieds this is a big deal for getting more eyes on our posts elsewhere around the internet.
Prior to today, when you shared a post, thread, or classified on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc.) or through various other means utilizing rich media elements (such as Apple iMessage) the accompanying image would be the Northwest Firearms logo. With the new feature the software will automatically pull the first attachment in the first post and use that as the accompanying image, greatly increasing the odds of a click.
Again, cause I know we'll get people asking, the first image in the thread is the one used for sharing, so arrange your photos with this in mind.
This is much easier to understand with a visual example. We'll use this classified ad for our demo (lucky @drydry gets some extra exposure).
The button to share a thread is located to the bookmark icon in the top right corner of the first post in the thread. You can also share individual threads this way. Hovering over it pops up the share menu.
