So in other words, the first thing they do upon taking office is lie. I'm shocked.
Its worse than lies...Thats a given for lawyers ! Violation of Oath is more the lines of treason and subversion of the Constitution which can only mean 1 thing... An ANTI-Freedom Agenda following the Path of Hitler in 1938 is in the works. Socialism , Communism , no Republic , call it what you wish. Just as we have 2 Major Parties in office , we have Gun Owners and Non-Gun owners. It is our RIGHT to own guns and Bear Arms... not a privilege to be toyed with. Funny thing , statistics show that almost 100 % of criminals doing mass shootings in malls, schools ,theaters, etc. are all Democrats or children of Democrats. Something smells funny and it's not my upper lip !

Was it because he was a single shot kinda guy? :p;)

Yup, you probably know, but didn't say, that the line "gonna get real western" comes from C. J. Box's fabulous Joe Pickett series in Wyoming and Montana. His Highwayman Quartet is good too. I like reading stories happening in places I can relate to.

I don't get the above joke but no problem. FREEDOM ARMS is a famous WY gun company that makes expensive and custom made guns. My MT husband owned a few of them and some other fancy $$$ single action revolvers in the past.

I did not know anything about JP SERIES but I looked them up. Thanks for the tip on his books! They look very interesting!

Joe Pickett Series in Order: How to read C.J. Box books? - How To Read Me

I adore the LONGMIRE series. We have the dvd set too.

I always thought that when someone said that things would go or get western... well... you know. THE WILD WEST and then some! That is why the DIE HARD original movie comment made by Bruce Willis without the two cuss words (!) ALWAYS made me laugh!

Take care.

Feinstein And Friends Quietly Introduce a Major Gun Control Bill During the Shutdown

Feinstein And Friends Quietly Introduce a Major Gun Control Bill During the Shutdown

Well now, who out there did not expect this to happen but wait there's more it's new and improved with added features like more guns banned, storage laws and other items you just love to hate.

We see how well all this stuff has worked in her state so now lets let everyone have as much fun.

Ok we just give them what they want. All guns are now banned. We are like the UK or whatever other utopia they want.

Whats next on the table after guns? and removing entirely the 2A. Whats the next Amendment # they want or other civil liberty/right they want to erode away until they get their way?. I have a feeling what fellow members here are going to say but thats not who i want to hear it from.

I just want one of them to honestly answer that question nationally.

Thankfully they don't have the votes for this to go anywhere, for now. This is most likely a move to not only please their base, but to prepare for whichever next congress when they DO have the votes and the WH back in their hands. I'm not worried right now, but I know we have a lot to be worried about down the road.

Honestly, I'm more concerned about Oregon than national. Oregon is going to get hosed this year, we just don't know how badly yet. The votes simply aren't there to stop it, so they can do pretty much anything they want, and we've got nothing, outside of maybe the courts, to wield against them. Get your lube ready, 'cause this is going to hurt.

What's next after guns? The United Socialist States of Amerika obviously. Where the folks like us will struggle just to get a loaf of bread while those high up in the commie crap party can get milk and steak.

Only people other than the higher ups that think communism is great are idiots who ignore the issues of the Soviet Union. FFS, modern day Venezuela or Cuba. They aren't bad cause "that's not true communism," they're bad because they're the closest to true communism!

Yup, love the Longmire TV series.

There's some Longmire books out there but I haven't had a change to read any. You?

Apologies for my late reply here.

I ordered 2 books from my local Barnes and Noble book store. One is still on order, KINDNESS GOES UNPUNISHED #3, and I started this one, DEPTH OF WINTER #20, which was already in stock but I got it for a matching online B/N cheaper price since I do not do any computer/online ordering. I do LOOK around and check prices out online. I called a few book stores here in town and no one had #3 in stock. A couple of them had the #20 book but at a higher price.

My local library has these books checked out or in between libraries. So I decided on what I wanted to get for my husband and I to read from the gitgo even if they were not in order to begin with.

I really, really LIKE the Depth of Winter even though I just started it. The writing is very good and Walt and the others in this book crack me up. Plus CJ is very descriptive in his writing. In some ways, I like it better than the TV show when it comes to the words and humor even though Walt tends to be stoic in his own way. (I do love and enjoy our LONGMIRE tv series, we have the complete set, but I usually LOVE the book more than any movie, tv show or play.)

I love the GUN COMMENTS in the book too. Re: The .45 caliber and so forth.

Walt Longmire Books in Order: How to read Craig Johnson series? - How To Read Me

I had to finish up a rather large stack of political hardback books before I started this Longmire book. Sometimes I read two completely different books at one time but not too often. My husband saw them at Costco and B&N and got them for me even though I did not want each ONE that he got for me that much. So I read them and they are going to the library - donations.

I am trying to NOT buy too many books at this stage of my life. I donated several thousand books to my former library before I moved out of my former Great Lakes state. Gave some to friends and family too. (After my late husband died.) I did the same thing on the East Coast where I was born and raised.

I like the KISS METHOD as my late husband used to say in and out of the military and at his NON .gov job. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. Less is more at our age - less to clean/dust with or without glass bookcases.

Besides this is a much smaller house that I built here and I may (?!?) build my third and last house.

One other thing, I had read bits and pieces online written by CJ. So I already KNEW that I would like his writing. Plus I adore Walt's demeanor as a gentleman and man. He is a man's man and most ladies like a MAN TO ACT LIKE A MAN not some, ahem, suggestion of a man. Walt would be a man even if he did not own or shoot a gun - he is Not a PC snowflake man when it comes to his personality! He is strong, funny, stoic, etc. all rolled into a COOL man.

At a lot of points, it seems like the NRA only cares about self-preservation. Programs like the incessant modification of costs of LIFETIME or other kinds of membership, other promotions to raise funds for what look lie bonus times for Wayne and his cohorts, loosely constructed and variable commitments to political activities, etc., just show me that they're nothing more than the Red Cross; keep yourself in the public eye at ANY cost (to members). Their recent comments/crisis about/with bankruptcy is another example.
I M O, and NO I havent supported the Dred Cross since I joined the service in 63. ll I ever saw was a bunch of volunteers with a pack of self ingratiating clods sitting in HQ eating finger sandwiches and drinking Pappy Van Winkel.

ronzonie,?

Do you think the U.S. and the 2nd Amendment would be better off without the NRA?

I don't.

As to their escalating costs for lifetime memberships...doesn't bother me a whit.

Why's that you may ask?

Because I pay exactly $10.00 a year to be a member (that's the 'actual' minimum) and I'd rather pay that without lifetime membership bragging rights.

I do see membership hierarchy as kinda laughable...but, if that makes some happy, hey, it's their money...
