Let me pose this question.

I had a dream last night about my Romak III (I know its sad when I dream about guns) In my dream I sawed down the barrel.

It got me to thinking, what if I took a Dragunov clone, had the barrel professionally chopped to around 16"-18". this would give me an AK style carbine with some serious knockdown power.

Would the piston system still cycle with a shorter barrel?

after a little research I found that they made a paratrooper PSL.

Why not just get an AK chambered in 308??

.308 .50 a rd

7.62x54R .17 a rd

Hmmmm get more bang for the buck literally with the 7.62x54R

personally i have a hard time trowing .50 cent pcs down range unless im hunting or preparing to hunt

i think the OP should ask the shop he plans to have cut it what it will do im sure it wont effect performance just hurt the accuracy a little.

what they need is a US compliance kit for these to get rid of that heavy thumbhole stock and replace with light weigh poly

Someone had a run of "paratrooper" PSLs that had either a 16" or 18" bbl and no scope.

It might have been AIM or InterOrdnance I cannot remember.

I wish they had a Saiga in 762x54r.
