At the price of .22-250 per round you may want to look into a GOOD .223 in a bolt rifle. I mean were talking sage rats here, and I've taken thousands upon thousands with just the lowly .22, among several other calibers. But then again, to each their own.
Plus 1! You can get very good varmint ammo for around half the price of comparable 22-250 ammo, you can see your bullets impact from a rest with a heavy barreled .223 and have you seen what even the .17HMR does to a ground squirrel, even at 150 yards and beyond. (I have a few pictures, amazing for a 17 gr bullet) In my experience, the .223 is a little more consistently accurate than the 22-250, too.
