On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a gun-industry bid to quash a lawsuit filed by the Mexican government alleging American firearms manufacturers have illegally flooded the country with weapons used by drug cartels. Mexico sued companies including Smith & Wesson Brands; Beretta U.S.A.; Glock; Sturm, Ruger & Co.; and Colt's Manufacturing. The gun makers said the lawsuit is a stalking horse for gun-control advocates in the U.S.

The industry's brief described the suit as "a foreign sovereign that is trying to bully the industry into adopting a host of gun-control measures that have been repeatedly rejected by American voters."

You don't sue Ford or Chevy because someone was drunk in one and killed other people….

I used to be surprised by how stupid the general population of earth is but now I am just constantly disappointed.

The problem I see is this is frivolous bullbubblegum and scotus only hears 60 cases total per year. And only 2-3 of those are likely to be gun cases. So if we burn one gun case on this bullbubblegum then we may only have one or at the most 2 other gun cases heard next year (assuming they follow their regular pattern of number of cases).

If it has larger impact to stop CA bubblegums who sue gun companies in he future though it might be worth it. But I sure would like to see those cases reserved for "assault weapon" bans and mag bans as well as any new 2A bullbubblegum the commie governments come up with.

Probably because this isn't really about guns, it's about protecting American corporations from lawsuits from foreign countries.
Would it be too much to ask for even just one of these "pro-2A"sic cases to actually be about and decided on the basis of 2A?

Hughes Amendment of FOPA 1986, GCA 1968, NFA 1934 all seem to be considered "good law" and "constitutional". Heller and reiterated in Bruen, have said that 2A is "not an unlimited Right", and that "some restrictions are okay" :s0054:

Edit, so all these cases have to attack either the State laws, or regulatory things (Cargill and such for example). But its up to the lawyers in black robes to ""interpret"" the Constitution and see where these State laws and regulatory BS fits if at all.

Yep. But then again, we shouldn't be surprised ever again, knowing that our public schools actively try to teach our children not to engage their critical thinking skills...
